I have been contemplating this article on “Purpose” for awhile….
What is Purpose? The Dictionary Defines it as….

1. the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc.
2. an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal.
3. determination; resoluteness.
4. the subject in hand; the point at issue.
5. practical result, effect, or advantage: to act to good purpose.

So why do we do what we do? Who are we in the realm of being… or becoming what we truly desire? We can contemplate on what are career is, what that position to our livelihood means, What we do seems to define us. We meet people at an event or a party and they ask us so “What do you do” Yet what we do isn’t really who are are. It is only one facet of it.

Who we are is completely different from what we do. Who are are is defined by our “Values” or morals, or our “purpose” Have you given any thought to your purpose? I never did in the past. I like many, have always just been living life. Yet as I have been working more and more on my thought process (my mindset) I realize how little I have really enjoyed or have been in the present moment for. We are creatures of habit. We are habitual. We live our lives day after day on Autopilot. Doing the things we always do, handling things the way its always been, half listening when people talk to us and yet we wonder why we don’t have better connections. Have you ever thought this or felt this way?

Did you know that 95 to 99% of the behaviors we do everyday are driven by our subconscious thoughts? Can you imagine if we were more aware of those thoughts on a regular basis instead of them being in our habitual zone how much more we could experience in our life? What if what we truly want in life is right outside our habitual zone? Would you be willing to change your habits?

What would it mean to you to begin living life on a higher consciousness? On becoming more aware of what is going on around you? or when having a conversation with someone you could truly understand them better as a human being and be tentatively listening to what they are saying instead of constantly trying to form your response to them while they are talking?

In the span of 10 days recently I had the word “Awaken” put in front of me in more than one form. I wouldn’t haven’t noticed this before had I not been working on my thought process, my mindset in the last 6 to 9 months. I am consciously working on becoming more aware of things around me, conversations I am having, how I am handling those conversations and what it all means to be more present. The first time I saw the word it was in a book I was reading and it stood out to me. The next time it was in a presentation form from a Joint venture partner I am going to be doing a workshop with in November. The next time I was sitting at a red light waiting to turn left. I had looked down for a moment and when I looked up and glanced across the street a big sign was there in a shopping center that said “Awakening” Then the last time was in the form of a persons “Handle” or name on social media. I would never have noticed the subtle message being thrown at me over and over again had I not been learning to become more aware.

I was driving down the coast toward San Diego yesterday and looked out at the ocean. I saw a flock of Seaguls flying near the waters edge. It was beautiful… my first thought came to me as “Wow that is what soaring it… what a beautiful picture and I am really awakening to what I see” I then see a post from someone on social media (again the person who I will be working with in November) and her post says something about awakening and soaring in life.

How does all this lead to “Purpose” Well my life is constantly changing and if someone would have told me where my life would be a year ago as it is today… I wouldn’t have believed it… But my purpose has been changing along with my awareness and becoming more intune to the present life I am in.

My purpose has changed from worry, fear and doubt to be about helping others, connecting with others, collaborating with others and my greatest joy seems to be reaching out to connect others with someone that can help them achieve and live a life that they truly want….

So what is your purpose? What is truly driving you? your passion, your desire? Within our passion and desires tells a story of where we should be going or want to be heading. It tells the story of how we can touch the lives of others because of what we truly believe and want to spread and share.

If your not sure what your passion or desire is yet, start taking the time now to discover your core values. What you truly want and see yourself doing and more importantly what you “Believe in” Martin Luther King didn’t sell a plan, he sold “A Belief” what is yours? Then find a way to incorporate that into your life so you can reach out and help others and make your passion and your desire a business of your own. Then your purpose is revealed. You are helping others but in the long run you are helping yourself too and then you will find that you are never working a day in your life. Your just living your purpose.

Here’s to your “Purpose”
